Festival Eucharist
This morning our choir will be accompanied by a string quartet and woodwinds. After the service, while the children enjoy their Easter egg hunt, the adults are invited to enjoy a glass of fizz. Our Easter reception will be held at the back of church and we invite you to celebrate the festival with us. Donations of £1 for a glass of fizz will be gratefully received in the pot on the refreshments table.
A Big Thank You
Thank you to those that have helped to make the church look so festive this morning through donations to the Easter flowers and helping to clean and prepare the church for today’s services. Thank you also to those who have helped with catering for this morning’s reception and with the children’s activities this morning and on Good Friday.
Congratulations
Congratulations to those who were baptized during the Easter ceremonies this morning and who reaffirmed their baptismal vows: Majid Rezei and Adeola Fatiregun. Please do congratulate them after the service if they have managed to stay awake and make the reception.
The Big Breakfast!
Alice Heard and Ewan MacLean deserve a big thank you for doing us so proud this morning, preparing a nourishing breakfast to accompany our champagne after celebrating the dawn of Easter morning at the early service.
Services This Coming Week
There will be no Sunday evening nor mid-week evening services this week. There will also be no 8am service next Sunday, 24th April. Normal services will resume on Monday, 25th April.
Office Closure
The parish office will be closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It will reopen at 9.00am on Thursday.
Ukrainian Refugees
Our local Paddington Deanery is looking to help refugees from Ukraine. Working in conjunction with Citizens UK, who is looking for partner organisations to act as ‘key sponsors’ committing to taking 50 refugees, it is hoped that as a Deanery we might have the capacity and willingness to provide accommodation for 50 refugees. This works out at roughly 4 refugees per parish, which could be four individuals or just one family. At present, it would be good to know the level of interest to see if this might be feasible, so if you would in principle like to offer space under the government scheme and working in partnership with Citizens UK, please contact the Reverend Alistair Thom at St Luke’s, Kilburn: alastairthom@yahoo.co.uk. No hard and fast commitment is needed at this stage, but if it looks as if we can support 50 people in the Deanery, then we can begin the process with Citizens UK.
Look up! Something’s Stirring!
As we begin to come out of the pandemic, we are grateful to those who have been steady in their financial support during the past two years, but now is the time for us to start thinking about rebuilding our music, taking on an organist, staffing and getting back to normal, so we need your help please. Your contributions are really valued and so, in the coming months, we plan to encourage members of the congregation to review their giving, or to give regularly if they don’t already do so, to help us fund our recovery.
Please continue to help us if you can by contributions either on Sunday mornings in the collection plate or, alternatively, directly to our bank account. Our details are:
